Rivertown Revival virtual concert

Petaluma's Rivertown Revival's popular Living Room Live concert series returns for one final show on July 18 at 6 p.m. with headliner David Luning. The event promises the music, artists, costumes, and family fun of Rivertown Revival, delivered virtually. The three-hour musical variety show, with RR front man Josh Windmiller, will feature performances by local songstress Maya Leon, the eclectic Lee Vandeveer Band, and the always energetic Snaps for Sinners, as well as entertaining visits with some of the festival's more colorful contributors.

Virtual Authors Festival

The Sonoma Valley Authors Festival continues through July 27 with presentations from some of the greatest writers and thinkers of our day. These talks will stimulate your mind and nurture your soul. The virtual festival creates a shared experience where attendees will be captivated by authors of currently published best sellers, including Billy Collins, Colin O'Brady, and General H.R. McMaster. Quarantine cat film fest

The Sebastiani Theatre in Sonoma is offering access to the Quarantine Cat Film Fest through their website. Amateur filmmakers from around the world filmed their beloved cats during COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. This compilation reel brings together the cutest, funniest, and bravest, exclusively filmed during the pandemic. Fifty percent of the $12 the ticket price goes to the Sebastiani Theatre.

Sebastopol summer camp for kids

Sebastopol Center for the Arts is holding a series of day camps combining in-person and virtual Zoom sessions for children ages 7 to 12. A number of camps begin July 20, including ceramics, fiber art, visual art, and drama. A full schedule is available at the website below.

pianoSonoma Vino & Vibrato

pianoSonoma embarks on a reimagined concert series this Summer. Virtual Vino & Vibrato will feature eight 30-minute concerts held Mondays through Thursdays, July 20-30, at 8 p.m. Each concert is curated by an Artist in Residence. pianoSonoma is a music festival that brings together current conservatory music majors, recent graduates and adult musicians to collaborate and perform in private and public concerts and community workshops in Sonoma and Napa Counties. This intersection of artists in residence and adult participants creates a rich and vibrant experience for everyone.

Boys & Girls Club summer fun

The Boys & Girls Club of Sonoma Valley's second summer camp session runs July 20 to Aug. 1, featuring California Dreamin' week and The Last Splash (Covid-19 safe water week). Each camp includes academic support, movement, and enrichment activities such as STEM, maker crafts, art, etc. There will also be health and wellness discussions and activities that provide social-emotional support, sports, fitness, and recreation. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fee: $400. Safety is the number one priority and the club is doing everything possible to keep children and staff protected from Covid-19.

Family culinary camp

"Family Culinary Camp: Around the World" will take place virtually July 20-23. Learn knife skills including usage, care and safety when cutting, different measuring tools and proper equipment, and safety and sanitation in the kitchen. Don't miss this amazing culinary adventure. Menus include handmade pasta, King Ranch casserole, Singapore curried rice noodles, meatloaf cupcakes and more. Recipes will be mailed to participants once you sign up. Appropriate for kids 7-12. Fee: whatever you can pay between $100-$205.

Mental health virtual classes

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Sonoma County is hosting a virtual, free, 8-week program designed for family members, significant others and friends of persons who live with a serious mental health condition. Each session will be held via Zoom. The class will take place weekly on Mondays 3:30-5:30 p.m. from July 27 to Sept. 21. The program improves coping and problem-solving abilities for individuals who are close to someone with serious mental health challenges and is taught by NAMI-trained family members with lived experience. Applications are now being accepted.

Impacts on a twice-burned landscape

On Aug. 6, 10-11:30 a.m., Pepperwood Preserve will host an online lecture examining the implications of a twice-burned landscape. Pepperwood's 3,200-acre preserve has burned twice, during the 2017 Tubbs and 2019 Kincade Fires. Prior to these fires, Pepperwood had been collecting weather, hydrology, and biological data via a Sentinel Site monitoring framework for nearly a decade. This presentation will provide a high-level overview of pre- and post-fire ecosystem indicators, highlight botanical observations including 12 new fire-following plant species to the preserve, showcase the beautifully recovering landscape, and describe how these findings are informing resilience strategies.

Paws for a Cause - Virtual Gala

Dress to impress or wear what you wish. Pet's Lifeline will be hosting its popular Paws for a Cause annual gala online, Aug. 15, at 6 p.m. This is Pet's Lifeline's biggest fundraiser of the year, accounting for over 20 percent of its annual budget. The event promises to be "short and sweet" with exciting interactive entertainment, a live auction, and more. "The best Virtual Gala of the year - delivered to your door". General admission tickets are available for $10. Tickets at the $100 and $250 levels include a gala picnic from the girl and the fig.

Free online genealogy classes

Become your family's historian. SRJC instructor Denise Beeson will teach you how to develop methodology to do family research, solve "brick walls" or roadblocks, learn about DNA, and use computer databases. SRJC is offering these free online classes starting in August, open to beginning or advanced students. A beginning genealogy class will take place Mondays starting Aug. 17, and go through Dec. 14, 10:15-11:45 a.m. An advanced class will take place Tuesdays, 9:30-11 a.m. starting Aug. 18 and go through Dec. 15.
