SV Museum of Art new exhibit
The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art is open and ready for visitors, complying with all COVID-19 health and safety measures. Come see the new exhibit, "California Rocks: Photographers Who Made the Scene, 1960-1980." This is the first museum exhibition that celebrates the roles that photographers and the images they created played in the history of West Coast Rock ‘n Roll culture. More than 60 photographs in the exhibition capture not only the rock scene in California, but also the social and cultural landscape of the Golden State during rock's heyday.

Beethoven live!
In July, the Valley of the Moon Music Festival features the Complete Beethoven Sonatas. Every Saturday morning in July, 10-11 a.m., just log in and enjoy the live music. VOM Music Festival Director Eric Zivian has taken up the challenge of learning all 32 Beethoven sonatas for Beethoven's 250th anniversary year, a time-consuming project he can finally take on while sheltering in place. This is a wonderful opportunity for the player and listener to explore the full range of Beethoven's style, and the emotion, humor, and spirituality of these treasures. Webinar on Taylor Mountain Park
Sonoma County Regional Parks will host a webinar on July 3, 3-3:30 p.m. on the history of Taylor Mountain Regional Park. Did you know that Taylor Mountain is named after a wealthy 49er who came to California searching for gold but instead found fortune in a stinky creek? Taylor Mountain was once home to a popular resort in the 1800s, then home to one of the largest bootlegging outfits in Northern California. Join Sonoma County Parks for an exciting mid-afternoon dose of park history.

Virtual fiber camp for kids
The Sonoma Community Center's "Virtual Youth Fiber Camp" runs the weeks of July 6-10 and July 13-17, 10 a.m. to noon, with instructor Pia Andersson. In this live Zoom workshop, kids and teens will learn hand sewing, macrame, and weaving techniques, all while completing a fun range of fiber art projects and crafts. No experience necessary. For ages 10-17. For younger students, a parent/guardian is asked to be present to help facilitate the start of class and be available to help when needed. All supplies and materials will be provided at a curbside pick-up at the Sonoma Community Center.

Greeting cards for kids
The Charles Schulz Museum is having an online Greeting Cards for Kids class, July 7-9, 10 a.m. to noon. Celebrate any occasion with a handmade greeting card. Use cereal boxes, old magazines, and learn new art skills to create cards for family and friends with artist Tami Tsark. Materials needed at home: cardstock, Bristol or watercolor paper or cereal box cardboard, markers, glue stick, construction paper or old magazine or newspaper clippings, scissors, paint colors (if you have them), stapler.

Library classes - composting, student time management
The Sonoma County Library may be physically closed, but it is offering a number of free webinars. July 8, 7-8 p.m. features "Recycle & Compost: Doing it Right!" Reception to honor county Poet Laureates
Info/Sign-up: sebarts.org/poet-laureate/.The Sebastopol Center for the Arts invites the public to a virtual reception on July 12, 4 p.m. for outgoing Sonoma County Poet Laureate Maya Khosla, the new laureate, Phyllis Meshulam, and the recently selected Youth Poet Laureate, Zoya Ahmed. A long-time resident of Sonoma County, Meshulam has published four collections of poetry, most recently Land of My Father's War, which won the Artists' Embassy International Award. She is also the editor of Poetry Crossing, CalPoet's 50th anniversary lesson plan book, an inspirational resource for writers and teachers.
Farm Bureau take-home BBQ
This year, the Sonoma County Farm Bureau can't hold its annual "Love of the Land" community celebration, but on July 16 you can take home a delicious, socially distant BBQ dinner. Each dinner serves four and includes a whole tri-tip roast (approximately two pounds), baked beans, garlic bread, potato salad, and chocolate chip cookies. Dinner for four is $65; dinner for eight is $125 (includes a bottle of premium Sonoma Valley wine). Pick up between 3-7 p.m., or have it delivered (slots are first come, first served, and cost an additional $15). Dinners available through pre-order only; deadline for ordering is July 8.

Wildlife corridors webinar
Pepperwood Preserve is hosting a webinar, "Wildlife Corridors: Keeping Our Landscape Healthy," on July 16, 10-11:30 a.m. via Zoom. These continuous swaths of natural and agricultural lands are essential to maintaining the quality of our water, forests, and wildlife in a rapidly changing environment. Join Pepperwood Conservation Analyst Morgan Gray to learn how connected landscapes benefit our community, and what you can do to help save and restore natural habitat connections. Morgan show how corridors, and their climate benefit, can be mapped, and ultimately used for on-the-ground conservation action.
